Okanagan Artists of Canada Art in the Mall Show

The Okanagan Artists of Canada Society will present a new exhibition at the Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon later this month. As the society marks its 79th anniversary, the show, titled “Art in the Mall” debuts September 27th and runs until October 30th.
The OACS is one of the oldest art associations in BC and many of its alumni have become well known Canadian artists. The non-profit is made up of 85 talented, local artists from Vernon and neighbouring jurisdictions, plus many more on the waiting list. OACS is one of the oldest art societies in British Columbia forming officially in 1945 as the Vernon Artist Association. It was registered under the Societies Act in 1968 and after a few name changes, the group settled on the Okanagan Artists of Canada Society in 2017.
Darren Robinson, Director of Marketing for the mall says “Village Green Shopping Centre is a very proud supporter of the many talented artists that comprise the Okanagan Artists of Canada. The semi-annual shows are always well received by the shoppers and community members that we serve though the year.
Their collection of work is beautiful and we are excited to again partner with the Okanagan Artists of Canada to help promote and emphasize the arts and artists within our Okanagan communities.”
“The Village Green Shopping Centre has a real sense of community spirit and has been incredibly supportive,” show organizer Sharon Bettesworth said.

In addition to holding two exhibitions at Village Green Mall each year, the group stages a popular “Fall for Art” show at Vernon Community Arts Centre in November.
